Sun is looking for talented student software developers who are passionate about open source community development. As a Sun Campus Ambassador, you will organize tech demos and hands-on activities with the latest innovative and open technologies such as Java, OpenSolaris, mySQL and NetBeans. You'll also be able to point your fellow students to valuable resources such as free web-based courses and special certification programs for students. Most importantly, you'll connect students at your university with a global community of student developers all participating in Sun's open source student communities around the world.
You'll be provided with training, give-aways and the resources you need to be successful and have lots of fun in the process. |
Description, Skills, Education & Experience

Sun is looking for graduate or senior level students with a strong background in software development to work part time as a Sun Campus Ambassador. This opportunity provides extensive training on the latest technologies and offers valuable work experience with one of the world's leading IT companies. You'll also develop your leadership skills and learn about industry changing open source software communities and software development models.
Responsibilities:
Lead the Sun open source developer community on your campus by working with existing student clubs or developing a new community of student open source developers;
Run Sun Technology demo sessions on your campus;
and
Organize and conduct fun, hands-on technology projects and activities.
Requirements:
Currently pursuing BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field;
Strong technical abilities;
Familiarity with NetBeans, Sun Studio and/or the Solaris Operating System are desirable;
Excellent communication skills and should be comfortable serving as a public speaker; and
Self-motivated, highly organized and be able to work independently.
